Director Study
Steven Spielberg
Steven Spielberg is a
very well known and successful American film Director, Screen Writer and
Producer. He is also a businessman, investing and creating a business of his
own, Spielberg Productions. As well as having his own business, Steven
Spielberg is also the Co-founder of DreamWorks productions, a very successful
production company also.
Some very popular
films Steven Spielberg has directed:
- · E.T- The Extra Terrestrial · http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oR1-UFrcZ0k
- · Jurassic Park http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJlmYh27MHg
- · Lincoln
- · Munich
- · Raiders of the lost Ark
- · Saving Private Ryan
He has won three
academy awards. Spielberg has also won two academy awards for best Director out
of a potential 7. In 2001, he was honored as a Honorary Knight Commander of the
order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II.
Steven Spielberg's
style of movies began addressing humanistic issues such as Holocaust, the
transatlantic slave trade, war and terrorism. As these are extremely deep subjects
to humans, it gains attraction and makes people want to go see his films about
either one of these subjects and see how well he has executed them without
being offensive to the viewers.
Things I like:
- · Spielberg likes to do things on a large scale such as the special effects he uses. We can see that these special effects have been used and experimented with in the movies Jaws and E.T.
- · He is also very detailed with his work and will hide little messages and clues in the background, which are extremely subliminal. He is also very detailed when it comes to Mise-En-Scene, he knows exactly what he wants and has a vivid image in his head.
- · How everything in the picture is purposely put there. Things such as props that may not necessarily mean anything to the viewers but adds meaning to the story.
